Jennifer Wu

Founder, Medical Director, Ophthalmologist

Dr. Jennifer Wu is the Founder and Medical Director of One EyeCare, where she combines her expertise in advanced corneal surgery with her lifelong passion for restoring and enhancing vision. Originally from New York City, she spent a decade in New Haven, Connecticut, earning both her B.S. (2005) and M.D. (2009) from Yale University. After completing her Ophthalmology Residency at Los Angeles General Medical Center–Doheny Eye Institute and a Cornea Fellowship at the Doheny Eye Institute–University of Southern California, she fell in love with Southern California’s weather, culture, and community. A true “Los Angeles meet cute” with her college classmate-turned-husband brought her to Pasadena, and the couple later settled in Orange County to raise their family.

Dr. Wu was drawn to ophthalmology by what she calls the “wow factor” of eye surgery—the incredible moment when a patient sees clearly after years of blindness. From cataract and cornea transplant surgeries to LASIK, she finds joy in making a life-changing difference every day. “I genuinely love what I do,” she says. “Every day, I help people achieve the vision of their dreams while fulfilling my own childhood dream of using lasers to cure disease. Yes, I’m a Star Trek nerd!”

A pioneer in her field, Dr. Wu was an early adopter of SMILE-LASIK, believing that smaller incisions lead to better outcomes, particularly for patients with dry eye or risk of trauma. She was the first surgeon west of the Mississippi to offer SMILE Pro, the most advanced version of SMILE-LASIK. She also has a long-standing interest in keratoconus, a corneal disease affecting young adults during their most productive years. In 2016, Dr. Wu became the first surgeon in California to perform FDA-approved corneal crosslinking to halt keratoconus progression. Today, she combines crosslinking with custom laser vision correction to both stop disease progression and improve visual quality—exemplifying her commitment to surgical innovation and patient-centered care.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Wu embraces life as a “female surgeon mompreneur,” striving to inspire her daughter while maintaining a strong work-life balance. Her motto—work hard, play hard, and live in the moment—shines through in her love for skiing, roller coasters, and international travel with her husband and daughter. Whether navigating a black diamond ski run or a complex surgical case, Dr. Wu approaches every challenge with courage, precision, and an adventurous spirit.

Kevin Ku is the Office Manager at One EyeCare. A lifelong resident of Southern California, Kevin has spent his entire career in the eye care field—one that began humbly when his uncle first invited him to help out at his practice. Lauren Brito

Surgical Coordinator

Lauren Brito is a Surgical Coordinator at One EyeCare who brings both experience and heart to her role. Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Lauren’s career path took an inspiring turn during two years spent living in Hawaii, where she gained invaluable hands-on knowledge and mentorship from ophthalmologists across the islands.

Though she entered the eye care field somewhat by chance, Lauren quickly discovered a deep passion for it. What began as a job evolved into a calling as she saw firsthand the impact clear vision can have on a person’s life. She finds immense joy in helping patients achieve better sight—whether through glasses, contacts, or surgery—and treasures the moment when they light up upon seeing the world clearly again. One of her most meaningful experiences was witnessing a patient’s transformation after years of poor vision, reaffirming for her that this work truly changes lives.

Outside the clinic, Lauren is deeply family-oriented and proud of her Mexican and Salvadoran heritage, which has instilled in her a strong sense of community and connection. She enjoys spending time with her partner and their pets, traveling to new places, trying different cuisines, and cheering on the Dodgers. Whether at work or in her personal life, Lauren’s warmth and curiosity shine through—helping her create meaningful connections with everyone she meets.
