Specialty Eye Care Services Provided in Costa Mesa, CA
One Eye Care offers a different approach to eye care. In addition to traditional procedures, we also provide specialty eye care services. For example, one of the problems we address results from the extensive use of digital devices while navigating through job assignments, schoolwork, games, and other activities. This increased use of digital screens can cause blurred vision, headaches, and dry and strained eyes. Our specialty services can evaluate your screen time patterns and suggest therapeutic plans that will change your routines in ways that will ease digital eye strain.
For those who experience problems like corneal irregularities, or moderate to severe dry eyes, regular soft contact lenses might not be the best option. We offer scleral contact lenses that are custom fit to your eyes as a viable alternative to traditional soft contacts. Scleral contacts provide clearer vision than regular contact lenses and can be more comfortable to wear in certain instances. Because these lenses are designed for precise purposes and are distinctly different from traditional contact lenses, it will be necessary to designate an appointment with one of our optometrists to learn about the proper cleaning, insertion, and removal of them.
Ortho K: A Progressive Corneal Reshaping Technique
Some patients prefer not to undergo eye surgeries to correct their refractive error, such as PRK or LASIK. Others are not good candidates for these surgeries. One Eye Care offers another option to correct refractive vision errors that doesn’t require surgery: orthokeratology, also known as Ortho K (or Ortho-K). Orthokeratology utilizes special contact lenses that are worn at night. These lenses perform a gentle reshaping of the cornea while you’re sleeping. Then, you remove them each morning and enjoy corrected vision throughout the day. As with glasses, clearer vision will be maintained while using Ortho K lenses, but the cornea will revert to its previous shape if these special lenses are no longer used.
